Description

Two parts make up this set: an Off-Road Hoverboard in glossy Chrome Blue and a Hoverkart, a go-kart seat for hoverboards. Use the board on its own to ride upright; add the kart and you take a seat, steering by hand with two levers. Other colours are in our hoverboards range.

Key features

  • Glossy Chrome Blue finish
  • A pair of 400 W motors on 8.5-inch off-road tyres
  • Ride upright, or seated in the standard Hoverkart
  • Carry bag in the set; LED lights, Bluetooth speaker and non-slip footpads on the board

Where you can ride it

Private land only, with the landowner's permission.

Ride it on private land, with the landowner's permission. Not on roads, pavements, cycle lanes or in parks. Fitted to a hoverboard, the kart may only be used on private land, with the landowner's permission.

Age guidance from the manufacturer for the board: from around 8, with adult supervision. Wear a helmet and wrist, knee and elbow guards.

Questions riders ask

Can I take the kart on a public path?

No. Seated or upright, its place is private land, with the landowner's permission. Public paths, pavements, cycle lanes, roads and parks are all excluded. The police can seize a vehicle that is used illegally.

How old and how heavy can riders be?

Going by the manufacturer, riders of the board start from around 8, with adult supervision, and may weigh up to 120 kg when standing.

Will the tyres cope with sand?

Yes: they are 8.5-inch off-road tyres, intended for grass, sand and unpaved ground. Take soft ground gently until you have a feel for how the board handles.

Which charger does it use?

Use the charger from the board's box and no other; its plug is a fused UK 3-pin type to BS 1363. Charge from a wall socket and stay nearby until the battery is full.

Does the board need regular checks?

Yes. Before a ride, check both tyres for cuts or stones stuck in the tread and make sure nothing is loose; afterwards, brush off dirt and grass. If something seems wrong, start with the simple checks you can do at home.

How do you steer when seated?

With your hands rather than your feet. You sit on the frame with the board underneath: one lever makes one wheel go faster, the other slows the opposite wheel, and that is how you change direction.

Can the board still be ridden standing?

Yes. Loosen the straps, lift the board clear of the frame and it is a standing hoverboard again; the seat goes back on whenever you want to sit.

Will the frame fit an adult?

It adjusts from child to adult size. The supplier has yet to give a seated weight limit, so for a heavier rider, ask us first.

Charger and plug

Plug

Charger model
[TO CONFIRM: charger model number]

Your board's own charger, from its box, is the only one to use. A charger built for a different battery can start a fire; if yours is lost or damaged, ask us before you buy a new one. Plug it straight into a wall socket and do not use a travel adaptor.

Charging at home

  • Where: indoors, in a dry room at normal room temperature, on tiles, stone or concrete, with nothing that can burn close by.
  • Not in a hallway, on the stairs or by the front door: escape routes stay clear.
  • When: only when the pack is no longer warm from the ride, and only while you are in and awake. No overnight charging.
  • Done: unplug the charger. Never cover the board or the charger.

Stop and contact us

Warning signs: the pack bulges, feels hot to the touch, leaks, smells of chemicals, fizzes, crackles or smokes. Stop, unplug, move away from it and contact us. A damaged battery is never ridden or charged again.

Fire: leave the building with everyone else and phone 999 from outside; putting it out is a job for the fire service.

Recycling

Household bins, including the recycling bin, are the wrong place for this board, its pack or its charger. Anything with a lithium-ion pack inside has to be handed in separately.

Recycling the board and battery

Sending a battery product back

Lithium-ion batteries are dangerous goods in transport. Talk to us before you return anything that has one, and we will book a carrier that accepts it. If a battery looks damaged, has swollen, leaks or has got too hot, do not post it: message us first and wait for our instructions.

Riding rules in Great Britain

With the Hoverkart seat fitted, the law still sees a powered transporter. Private land only, if the owner agrees: never on a public road or pavement, never in cycle lanes, car parks, playgrounds or parks, and nowhere open to the public.

Kit for each rider, each time: a helmet first, then guards on both wrists, elbows and knees. Children only ride while an adult supervises them the whole time.

Board alone: recommended age from around 8, with adult supervision, for riders up to 120 kg. With the seat on: [TO CONFIRM: weight limit and minimum age with the seat on]
