Rider Help Centre
Start with what the board is doing, not with what you think is broken. Pick the symptom below: each guide gives a short answer first, puts the checks in a sensible order and marks the point where you stop and pass it to us.
Three rules before any check
- Board off, charger unplugged.
- If the board has just been ridden or charged, let it cool down first.
- Never open the battery. If a check would mean opening the casing, stop there and contact us.
Stop and contact us if
- the battery is swollen, leaking, very hot or smells unusual;
- the board has been dropped hard or hit something and now behaves differently;
- you see smoke or sparks, or hear hissing or crackling from the board;
- the same fault comes back after you have worked through the guide.
Smoke or flames: everyone out, door closed, call 999.
Care, storage and travel
- Storing a hoverboard through the winter
- Cleaning a board after grass, sand or gravel
- Flying with a board: the battery limits
- Posting, couriers and car journeys
- Hot weather and overheating
How these guides are written
Each guide carries the date of its last check and lists the public sources behind it, such as GOV.UK, legislation.gov.uk and the National Fire Chiefs Council. Speed, range, battery and weight figures are the manufacturer's own for our boards. Where a detail depends on the manufacturer, such as a beep pattern or a reset sequence, the guide says so and refers to the manual that came with the board.
More about who writes the rider help is on our About page.
Guides by ride
The symptom guides on this page are written for our hoverboards and seated karts. For our other rides, start from the page for that ride: each one sets out the UK rule in a single block, what to check and the guides that go with it.
- E-scooters: tyres, brakes, chargers and battery storage.
- Drift trikes: how the slide works and what wears.
- Go-karts: frame, steering, brakes and what to wear.
- Balance bikes: sizing by inside leg, brakes and tyres.
- Waveboards: how the twist drives them, the kit and the parts that wear.
- E-bikes and the EAPC rule: motors, frame size and battery care.
- Electric skateboards: remotes, brakes and tyres.
- Single-wheel boards: how they balance and learning to ride.

Short answers
My board is plugged in but not charging. Where do I start?
With the simple things first: the wall socket, the charger's light and the port on the board. The not-charging guide takes you through them in order.
My board keeps beeping. What is it telling me?
Beeps are the board's way of flagging something, such as a low battery or a start on uneven ground. What each pattern means is set by the manufacturer, so the beeping guide sticks to the checks you can do yourself.
How much weight can your boards take?
Limits: 6.5-inch board 100 kg, 8.5-inch board 120 kg, with everything the rider carries counted. More in weight limits explained.
Can I ride on wet grass?
We advise against it: there is no water-resistance rating for our boards. The ground guide covers grass, gravel and sand as well.
Can I replace the battery myself?
No. Opening a lithium-ion pack is a fire risk and not a job for home. Contact us first; the battery guide explains why and what happens next.
What can I check before I report a fault?
Tyres, loose parts, the charger lead and the socket on the board, without opening anything up. The repair checks guide lists what to look at and what to leave alone.
Where am I allowed to ride?
Only on private land, if the owner agrees, and never anywhere public. See riding rules and kit.
None of this matches my problem. What now?
Write to us: order number, board and design, and a short description or video of what happens.
Still stuck?
None of the guides fits? Contact us and tell us what the board does. A board with a battery should stay with you until we have replied.
