Delivery, Returns and Statutory Rights
The short version: delivery is free across the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Wight and the Isles of Scilly, and to the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands; every product with a lithium-ion battery travels with a courier that accepts such batteries; and no product with a battery goes back in the post before you have talked to us.
| Delivery area | England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the islands; the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands |
|---|---|
| Delivery cost | Free |
| Delivery time | Usually 3–5 working days |
| Import charges | [TO CONFIRM: DDP – if so: nothing due at the door] |
| Change of mind | 14-day cancellation period, model form available |
| Returning a board | Ask us first; our courier collects, at your cost (estimated at a maximum of approximately £50) |
1. Where we deliver
Delivery costs nothing to any address in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the islands off Great Britain (such as the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly and the Scottish islands), and to any address on the Isle of Man or in the Channel Islands.
2. Delivery time
Parcels usually take 3–5 working days to reach an address in our delivery area. That is the normal time, not a fixed date; now and then the courier needs longer.
Once the parcel is on its way, a tracking link arrives in your inbox. [TO CONFIRM: tracking by e-mail]
No date agreed? Then the legal rule applies: delivery without undue delay, and in any case no later than day 30 after the contract. Missed the date we gave you? Tell us. Depending on what was agreed, you can fix a new deadline with us or end the contract for a full refund.
3. Price, VAT and import charges
Every price on this site is in pounds sterling and includes UK VAT [TO CONFIRM: once GB VAT-registered]. Delivery costs nothing within our area, so the checkout total is the full price of the goods plus their delivery.
[TO CONFIRM: DDP or DAP – keep this paragraph only with DDP; under DAP a prominent import charges notice next to the price takes its place] Orders leave from outside the UK. We settle the UK import VAT and any duty before the parcel crosses the border, so the driver collects nothing at your door.
[TO CONFIRM: how VAT and any import charges work for Northern Ireland (EU rules for goods) and for Jersey and Guernsey (outside the UK VAT area)]
Checkout lists the payment methods you can choose from.
4. Boards and kart sets: the battery in transit
Every board and every kart set contains a built-in lithium-ion battery. For transport, these batteries count as dangerous goods, and the rules get stricter above 100 Wh.
| 6.5-inch board and 6.5-inch kart combo | 24 V, 4.0 Ah, about 96 Wh |
|---|---|
| 8.5-inch board and 8.5-inch kart set | 36 V, 4.0 Ah, about 144 Wh (above 100 Wh) |
| Hoverkart seat ordered alone | no battery, no motor |
Battery products only go with a courier that has agreed to carry them, including batteries above 100 Wh. [TO CONFIRM: courier and its written agreement for lithium-ion batteries, including those above 100 Wh] The box may carry a lithium battery mark; couriers need it to handle the parcel correctly.
This page covers our own deliveries and collections. Moving a board yourself, by courier, car or public transport, is covered in our guide on whether you can post a hoverboard.
Flying with your own board is a question for the airline, not for us: our guide on flying with a hoverboard explains where our 6.5-inch and 8.5-inch boards fall against the watt-hour limits.
If the box arrives crushed, torn or punctured, take photos before you open it and tell us. Do not charge a board that arrived damaged until we have seen the photos.
5. Changing your mind
The cancellation period is 14 days. It begins the day after the goods arrive; with a split delivery, the day after the final part. No reason needed. The legal wording, how refunds work and the cancellation form are on a separate page.
Two rules make returning a board different from returning an ordinary parcel:
- Boards and kart sets never go back by post. Let us know you are cancelling, and a courier that can carry the battery collects it from you. You bear the direct cost of that return, estimated at a maximum of approximately £50.
- Swollen, leaking, damaged or very hot battery? It stays where it is: describe it to us and we explain how to proceed.
A seat ordered without a board contains no battery, so it goes back by ordinary post. You pay the return postage. Send it here: Ampes B.V., Marconiweg 8a, 4691 SV Tholen, the Netherlands.
You may handle a product as you would in a shop, to see what it is and how it works. If it loses value because it was used beyond that, for example ridden outdoors, we can deduct the loss in value from your refund.
6. Your statutory rights
Every product we sell has to conform to the contract. Concretely, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 asks that a product matches its description, is fit for purpose and is of satisfactory quality. If it does not, this is what you can ask for:
| When | What you can ask for |
|---|---|
| First 30 days after delivery | Reject the product: full refund |
| Instead of rejecting, or after 30 days | Repair or replacement |
| Repair or replacement impossible, failed or unreasonably slow | Price reduction, or rejection for a refund (sometimes minus an amount for the time you could ride it) |
| Fault shows up in the first six months | Treated as present from day one, unless we show it was not |
These rights stand next to your 14-day cancellation period; one does not replace the other. We give no extra guarantee of our own, and nothing in our terms takes away what the law gives you.
Fault to report? Send the order number with photos or a short clip through the contact page. Boards and kart sets are collected by our courier. Where your statutory rights apply, the repair or replacement and the transport cost you nothing.
Paid repairs, outside the statutory rights: [TO CONFIRM: paid repair service for GB riders – yes or no, and how it works]
7. Complaints
Mark your message as a complaint and send it through the contact page. That page also shows how quickly we confirm and answer.
8. Old electric rides, chargers and batteries
None of them belong in your household bin. See recycling and take-back for where they can go.
The full contract terms are in our terms and conditions. Who we are: the business that runs this shop. Questions about anything on this page: contact us.
